UV reflectors are very important in a UV system and are responsible for the reflection of over 55% of the UV energy source. Therefore it is very important to maintain and clean the UV reflectors in a UV system periodically.

The reflectors help in allowing infra red radiation to pass through by reflecting visible light. Lesser infrared radiation means reduced heating of the illuminated objects in the light beam. The reflector is necessary in compatible fixtures that help in scattering heat. It is said that reflectors must not be fitted to closed luminaries.
